We are a research group in the Department of Civil Engineering at The University of Akron. We have keen interests in exploring fundamental mechanisms of and innovative countermeasures to emerging infrastructure challenges, particularly in the broad area of smart, sustainable and resilient geotechnical engineering. Our research is highly interdisciplinary including multi-scale and multi-physics modeling such as coupled particulates-flow systems, experimental development and characterization of bio-inspired smart materials and sensors, development and application of bio-inspired infrastructure design and etc.
